Karnataka government postpones agriculture officer recruitment exams

Students led by the Akhila Karnataka Krishi and Krishi Sambandhita Padaveedharara Okkuta gathered at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Thursday to protest against the ongoing recruitment process for agriculture officers. The protesters demanded that the government withdraw the recruitment notification and rectify errors in the existing recruitment rules. Home Minister Priyank Kharge visited the protest site, heard the grievances of the students, and announced the temporary postponement of the examinations, leading the students to call off their protest.

Following the intervention, the Karnataka government issued an official order to revoke the recruitment notification for 128 Agriculture Officer posts and 817 Assistant Agriculture Officer posts. The protesters had specifically raised concerns regarding the recruitment criteria and the need for a revised notification that addresses identified flaws. The government has committed to reviewing the recruitment process in response to these demands.
