Indian Railways mandates bedroll provision for RAC passengers in AC coaches

The Railway Board has issued a strict directive to all zonal general managers requiring the provision of bedroll kits to passengers holding RAC tickets in air-conditioned coaches on express trains. These kits, which consist of bed sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels, were previously provided only to passengers with confirmed tickets. The decision follows numerous complaints from travelers who were denied these items despite the service costs being included in their fare.

Although the Railway Board had previously established rules requiring the provision of bedrolls to RAC passengers, the policy was not consistently implemented across all zones. This new mandate serves as a reinforcement of those existing regulations. By ensuring that all zonal managers enforce the distribution of these amenities, the Railway Board aims to resolve the difficulties faced by passengers during long-distance travel.
