Delhi Court Acquits Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in Sexual Harassment Case

A Delhi court acquitted former Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and former assistant secretary Vinod Tomar on August 3. The court concluded that the sexual harassment allegations brought against them were false and fabricated. The judge observed that the case appeared to be politically motivated and suggested that the accusations were rehearsed and planned. The court also noted that two wrestlers who were central to the charges turned hostile during the proceedings.

The case originated from protests held by wrestlers at Jantar Mantar in 2023. Following the acquittal, the court suggested that a deeper conspiracy might have been behind the allegations, which were reportedly coordinated by wrestlers and coaches at a training centre in Rohtak. The complainants have stated their intention to challenge the court's decision. The trial had lasted for approximately two years before the final verdict was delivered.
