Former textile merchant dies in Sonipat old-age home as daughters attend funeral via video call

Shivcharan Ram Ratan Gupta, a former textile merchant who had been living in a Sonipat old-age home for approximately two years, passed away on Tuesday morning. Following the death of his wife at the same facility, Gupta had remained under the care of the home's management due to his declining health. The administration contacted his three daughters to inform them of his passing and to arrange for the funeral proceedings.

The daughters, who are settled in different regions, informed the management that they were unable to travel to Sonipat to attend the funeral. Consequently, the last rites were performed by the staff of the old-age home and local residents, while the daughters watched the ceremony through a video call. Reports indicate that the daughters provided funds to cover the funeral expenses, a development that has sparked widespread public discussion regarding the circumstances of the event.
