Manipur government informs Supreme Court that audio clips linking N Biren Singh are manipulated

The Manipur government and the Centre submitted a report from the National Forensic Sciences University to the Supreme Court on Friday. The report concludes that audio recordings allegedly linking former Chief Minister N Biren Singh to the 2023 ethnic violence in Manipur were edited and manipulated. The forensic analysis identified 41 aberrations and 23 modifications within the two-hour-long audio clip provided by the petitioner.

The Supreme Court bench, consisting of Justices Sanjay Kumar and Sanjeev Sachdeva, has ordered that copies of the forensic report be provided to both the Kuki Organisation and the state government. This allows the involved parties to study and address the findings of the report. The petitioner had previously alleged that the audio clips linked the former Chief Minister to the ethnic violence that resulted in over 250 deaths.
