Sourav Ganguly and wife receive death threats, Kolkata Police initiate investigation

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and his wife, Dona Ganguly, have filed a formal police complaint after receiving a series of threatening letters. The communications, which have been arriving at Ganguly's office for approximately six months, contained explicit threats against the couple and their family. While the initial letters were dismissed as fan mail, the receipt of more aggressive and violent messages on Monday led to the filing of an official report at the Thakurpukur Police Station in south Kolkata.

Kolkata Police have initiated an investigation to determine the origin and motive behind the threats. Authorities are currently examining courier records and tracking a mobile number associated with the correspondence to identify the sender. Ganguly, who currently serves as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, has sought police intervention to address the security concerns raised by the persistent harassment.
