India and China hold diplomatic talks on border management and LAC situation

Indian and Chinese officials convened in New Delhi for the 36th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs. The discussions focused on the current situation along the Line of Actual Control, with both parties engaging in what the Ministry of External Affairs described as frank exchanges regarding boundary delimitation and border management. The meeting also covered topics such as river data sharing and the strengthening of trans-border cooperation mechanisms.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that maintaining peace and tranquillity in border areas remains essential for the development of bilateral relations between the two countries. To address outstanding issues and mitigate the risk of miscalculation, both sides committed to maintaining communication through established diplomatic and military channels, including local commander-level meetings.
