Typhoon Dolphin strikes Japan, causing flight cancellations and evacuations

Typhoon Dolphin made landfall in southern Japan, impacting the Okinawa and Kagoshima prefectures with heavy rain and powerful winds. The storm forced the closure of Naha Airport and the cancellation of more than 500 flights. Authorities have evacuated approximately 260,000 people from affected areas to emergency shelters as a precautionary measure. Several individuals have sustained injuries from the severe weather, and tens of thousands of households are currently without electricity.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has monitored the cyclone as it tracks toward the Chinese coast, prompting emergency preparations in both nations. The storm has brought sustained winds exceeding 140 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching higher speeds in some areas. Officials have warned of potential landslides, flash floods, and high tidal surges as the system continues its path through the region.
