Bengaluru Police Commissioner warns against forced participation in Karnataka bandh

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh announced on Wednesday that no person or organisation should be forced to participate in the statewide bandh scheduled for Thursday. The police directive explicitly prohibits threatening individuals, compelling the closure of shops or establishments, and obstructing traffic or public movement. Authorities have confirmed that security arrangements are in place to prevent violence and protect public property during the protests.

The bandh was organised by various groups to protest the recent Cauvery Water Management Authority order concerning the allocation of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu. While some organisations have called for the demonstration, others have informed the police that they do not support the action. The police have warned that any use of force, threats, or damage to property will result in legal action.
