Election Commission of India extends Karnataka electoral roll revision deadline

The Election Commission of India has revised the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Karnataka. Booth Level Officers now have until August 17 to complete door-to-door verification and collect enumeration forms, an extension from the previous deadline of August 8. The process also includes the rearrangement of polling stations, which is now set to conclude on August 17.

The revision follows concerns regarding the classification of over 1.09 crore voters under the Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others category. The extended timeline aims to allow for the correction of errors in these classifications to prevent the exclusion of genuine voters. Following the publication of the draft electoral roll on August 24, a period for filing claims and objections will remain open until September 23, with the final roll publication scheduled for October 27.
