Rahul Gandhi challenges Allahabad High Court order on disproportionate assets probe in Supreme Court

Rahul Gandhi has approached the Supreme Court to contest an order issued by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. The High Court had previously directed the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate to verify allegations of disproportionate assets linked to the Congress leader. In addition to challenging the probe order, Gandhi has requested that the case be transferred from the Allahabad High Court to the Delhi High Court.

The legal proceedings stem from a complaint filed by a Bharatiya Janata Party worker from Karnataka. The Allahabad High Court had expressed dissatisfaction with the initial response provided by the Central Bureau of Investigation regarding the allegations. Consequently, the court ordered a senior officer from the agency to file a fresh affidavit detailing the progress of the investigation. A Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana is set to hear the challenge.
