Iran Rejects US Claims of Control Over Strait of Hormuz

Iranian officials, including Supreme National Security Council head Mohsen Rezaei, have formally rejected assertions by US President Donald Trump that the United States holds full control over the Strait of Hormuz. The Persian Gulf Strait Authority stated that the waterway remains closed and will not be reopened until the United States accepts a series of Iranian conditions. These demands include the cessation of military blockades, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and support for ceasefires in Lebanon and Gaza.

The dispute follows a period of heightened tension and failed diplomatic efforts to restore a peace agreement between the two nations. While the US has claimed authority over the strait, Iranian leadership maintains that the strategic passage remains under their control. The standoff continues to complicate maritime navigation in the region, with both sides accusing the other of failing to adhere to previously discussed terms for de-escalation.
