Passenger ferry capsizes on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe

A passenger ferry named Mbuya Nehanda capsized on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe on Tuesday while transporting passengers between rural and urban areas. The vessel, which was carrying roughly 95 people including five crew members, reportedly encountered heavy winds and waves in the middle of the lake. Local authorities and emergency responders initiated a rescue operation, utilizing speedboats and helicopters to locate survivors and recover bodies from the water.

Investigations into the incident suggest that the ferry was overloaded at the time of the accident. Lake Kariba, which serves as a border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, is the world's largest man-made lake by volume.
