Heavy rainfall began in the Delhi-NCR region on Friday morning, resulting in extensive waterlogging on major roads including the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, ITO, and the Delhi-Jaipur Highway. The downpour caused traffic to come to a standstill across the capital, with reports of fallen trees and submerged underpasses further complicating travel. Commuters faced significant delays, with many unable to book cabs or reach their destinations on time.

The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for the region as the city experienced its wettest start to August in sixteen years. Local authorities reported numerous calls regarding waterlogging and infrastructure damage, while some businesses in Gurugram advised employees to work from home. Meteorologists attributed the persistent rainfall to a rare alignment of multiple weather features affecting Northern India.
