Leopard sightings reported in Bengaluru and Turuvekere

A leopard was sighted on the edge of the Turahalli forest in Bengaluru on Monday evening, with footage of the animal circulating on social media. This follows a similar sighting in the same area during the last week of July. Separately, in the Turuvekere taluk, a leopard entered the Byala colony of Kurubarahalli on Saturday night. The animal has been observed hunting dogs and other livestock in the vicinity over the past two days.

Residents in both regions have reported feeling anxious, with some farmers expressing fear about visiting their fields. Local community members have urged the Forest Department to intervene by setting up traps to capture the leopards. In Bengaluru, representatives of the local residents' association have voiced frustration, alleging that the department has not fulfilled its promise to install traps despite repeated requests.
