Odisha government adds 91 cancer treatment packages to state health schemes

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expanded the cancer treatment coverage in Odisha by including 91 new specialized packages under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling confirmed that these additions are part of the Mukhya Mantri Cancer Care Abhiyan, which seeks to ensure that patients receive comprehensive, free, and advanced medical services without facing financial hardship. The total number of available treatment packages under these integrated schemes has now reached 2,254.

This initiative is supported by a 311 crore rupee budget provision for the 2026-27 fiscal year. The government aims to improve access to critical procedures such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation for cancer patients across the state. By integrating these packages, the administration intends to reduce the financial burden on families and facilitate early detection and scientific treatment for those suffering from the disease.
