Seven dead after van swept away in Madhya Pradesh flash flood

The incident occurred around 9:00 AM on Monday near a bypass bridge in Padana village, located in the Sarangpur tehsil of Rajgarh district. The van, which was carrying 11 passengers from Dewas, was attempting to cross a water-covered bridge despite warnings from local administration staff and villagers to stop. The vehicle was overwhelmed by the force of the water and swept away, resulting in the deaths of seven people, including children. Two passengers survived the incident by swimming to safety.

Heavy rainfall in the region has caused rivers and streams to overflow, leading to widespread waterlogging and rescue operations by the State Disaster Response Force. The victims were reportedly travelling for a religious visit at the time of the accident. Local authorities have continued search efforts to recover the remaining missing passengers as the district deals with the impact of the ongoing monsoon conditions.
